Making a request for information

Making a request for information

We want to help you to find the information you are interested in. Before you make a Freedom of Information Act request, please check that the information you would like is not already available.

Before requesting information

Our publication scheme provides information about who we are and what we do, what we spend and how we spend it, what our priorities are and how we are doing, how we make decisions and our policies and procedures.

You will also find that lots of information is freely available on our website. We proactively publish consultation documents and information about projects along with the latest news.

If you are a journalist, you should first contact our communications team.

How to make a request

If you're unable to find what you’re looking for within our publication scheme or on our website, then you can contact us to make a request for information.

Requests must be in writing to the administer for the Boat Safety Scheme which is Canal & River Trust.

You must include your name and an address (either postal or email). Please try to be as specific as possible about the information that you would like, as this will help the response to be as accurate and prompt as possible. If you can, please include a contact telephone number so that we can contact you to discuss your request if necessary.
